LK Bennett Winter Sale

One bitterly cold December evening, events management agency Beyond Certainty invited their clients into the warmth for champagne, canapés and a preview of LK Bennett’s winter sale at One New Change in St Paul’s. The London Kitchen supplied the canapés, which included little taste sensations, such as the peppered fillet of tuna with slow roasted vine cherry tomatoes.

With 20 per cent off and the champagne flowing freely, it could have been a recipe for disaster – although when the goods are supplied by luxury British brand LK Bennett, can a quick swipe of the credit card ever be that much of a crisis…?

For me, the shoe section was the main area of interest and after my flute had been topped up for the third time, I found myself sidling towards the back of the shop. With endorsements from Kate Middleton – including repeat outings of the taupe ‘Sledge’ shoe over the Jubilee weekend and for the recent Asia tour – LK Bennett shoes are hotter than ever. As the brand of choice for HRH’s feet, LK Bennett footwear is fittingly classic, yet modern and extremely versatile. The winter collection includes lace covered court shoes in shades of teal and black; glitter-covered platform heels; and snake print heels and boots.

Bags are also a speciality of LK Bennett. Indeed one was up for grabs in a prize draw (which I didn’t win, despite – or possibly because of – subtly dropping in an entire handful of business cards). In keeping with the royal theme, Pippa Middleton has often been seen around town with her Annina bag and the popular Anna bag has been spotted on the arm of Dannii Minogue and Anna Friel. Nude and neutral tones (black, tan, beige) and snake print were the order of the day in store.

Known for more than their accessories, LK Bennett specialises in classic, timeless cuts for the woman who knows how to make an elegant dress sexy and modern – this is classic Kate attire and perfect for business-to-bar occasions. Items in the collection include beige trench coats, marl grey woollen tailored dresses and silk cowl-neck shirts in soft metallic shades. The Davina dress (available in various colours) is one of the key items for winter – a cap-sleeved above-knee dress with ruching around one side of the waist for an elegant, feminine shape, and an asymmetrical neckline for a dash of modernity.
