Upper Street Wedding Shoes

Although wedding shoes are often worn but not seen, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take the whole selection process seriously. These shoes have got to hold you up all day and make you feel like a million dollars. There’s no doubt you have spent months looking for your perfect wedding dress, so why not complete the outfit?

Where do you start though? Do you go high?

Your feet might ache towards the end of the day but they would make your legs look so much slimmer and longer; or do you go for a satin peep toe, with plenty of diamantes that sparkle as you walk down the aisle? If only you could experiment and see what works and what doesn’t without having to traipse around hundreds of shops again.

Well, guess what: you can! Upper Street, which has recently added bridal shoes to its bespoke shoe designing service, allows you to spend hours and hours on your computer and design your shoes until your heart’s content.

The whole design process starts by selecting the type of shoe you want – elegant sandals, round-toe platforms, gladiator heels and pointed court shoes are all at the click of a button. You then choose whether you want a peep toe, back-and-front straps or d’Orsay sides before choosing your material, which of course was bridal satin for me.

Colours were next. White Italian silk, Creamy Oyster White or Dusky Pink are just a few of the options before you add any finishing touches like flowers or bows to sit on the front, straps to go around your ankle or around the top of your foot and, of course, those all-important diamante sparkles.

Due to my indecisive nature the whole process took about four hours. It really doesn’t have to take that long though. It’s just the fact that you can keep chopping and changing, which allows you to look at every option and then check it out in 3D to make sure it looks 100 per cent fabulous. There are pre-designed shoes for inspiration, which are also absolutely divine, and great for those just as irresolute as me.

The shoes took just four weeks to arrive, giving me enough time to try them on with my dress before the big day. The problem is I now have one more dilemma on my hands… Have I got time to take my dress up slightly so the shoes can be seen? Unfortunately, the answer is probably not; but believe me when I say I will be lifting my dress up as much as possible when socialising with my guests. These babies deserve to be seen!
