Theatrical Courvoisier Cocktails

This weekend you are invited to embark on a cocktail drinking session and a half at The Courvoisier Institute of Grand Cocktails, where taste is only one tiny part of the drinking experience…

On hearing that the Courvoisier cocktail tour would be ‘theatrical’ we thought this meant testing of an unusual tipple or two along with the odd prop or fancy bit of décor. But in fact we got far more than we were bargaining for. Thanks to an array of interesting ‘characters’, we were transported back into another era/universe – but where did the real world end and the fantasy one begin? We’re still not quite sure.

Kicking off the refreshments with a light punch served in a jam jar at the building’s Produce Stores, the party then gets started with a Champagne cocktail in a grand, derelict Rococo ballroom. From here the liquids get progressively stronger… As you go through the tour, every room seems to get just that little bit odder (but wait, is that the booze or the surroundings?)

In Courvoisier land anything seems possible: sugar cubes are currency, customers get tipped and shoes on magic rugs are STRICTLY FORBIDDEN (ignore this advice at your peril). Be prepared to be mocked, told off and experimented on.

Nearing the end of your tour, if you prove yourself you could be invited into a special Courvoisier Cocktail Club – but only ‘a special few’ will cut the grade.

Okay, this review may seem a bit vague/confusing, but if I said too much it would be spoiling the fun, wouldn’t it?
