Royal Wedding Eating
This Friday there’s a little shindig that’s going on in Westminster Abbey. You might have heard about it as there’s been some small mention in the national press. You may be having a street party, a barbecue or doing your best to avoid it all together.
However, a number of places in London are doing their part to celebrate the union of Kate and William. Or they’re just taking advantage of the fact that we have got an extra day off work. It’s another four-day weekend people!
Whilst you might be getting involved in a street party of your own, there are plenty associated with different venues around the capital. The always versatile Book Club on Leonard Street is having a bash of its own. It starts at 10.30am with free entry all day. The festivities are divided up into a street party in the morning and afternoon and a knees up in the evening.
Also getting in on the party action is Sketch off Regents Street. There will be afternoon tea as well as the chance to watch the spectacle on 360 degree screens. There’s also a prize at stake. Like at the end of a wedding, a bouquet will be thrown. For the person who manages to catch and hold on, there will be a free meal for four at the venue’s restaurant.
For another chance to get some free food, you’ll need to dress up. Mexican restaurant Wahaca will be offering a free meal to anyone who comes in dressed up as either a groom or a bride. It might seem quite an effort to make in order to get an enchilada but if you’ve got spare wedding attire lying around, it seems a waste not to use it.
If you’re looking to get close to the action as well as getting a good meal, drop in at the Cinnamon Club in Westminster. The restaurant has put together a special menu dedicated to capturing the essence of the day. The five-course menu will set you back £50 per person. But if you think that this is a bit much to pay, bear in mind that this is the Cinnamon Club, a place where you will probably have the finest meal of your life.
Another pedigree restaurant that is organising a special one-off menu is Cigalon near Holborn. Consistently rated as one of the best Spanish restaurants in London, their special menu will feature a whole range of deliciousness. And all for the low, low price of £30.
Finally, if you’re around Brewer Street, drop into Zilli Fish where you can see owner Aldo Zilli taking on a 24-hour cooking marathon. Whatever he comes up with, it’s sure to be something memorable. Enjoy the day!

When I was a kid, I wanted to have a 5 course meal wedding but I realize that it was an expensive thing and so I settle on something not so expensive but amicable.
