Harvey Nichols Autumn/Winter Show

While the fashion pack may have moved on from London to Milan last week but for those who weren’t jetting off, the catwalk was still in full swing at Harvey Nichols Knightsbridge for their Autumn/Winter 2012 fashion show.

With the champagne flowing and Made In Chelsea frowers, Jamie Laing and Oliver Proudlock, in place, guests were treated to some of the upcoming season’s most colourful trends. Think prints, lots of them, and you will be nearing the mark. Not only in head-to-toe looks for both womenswear and menswear but also on the stunning floral catwalk.

With stylist Rachel Story as the creative force behind the show, thanks to help from Armani, Ade Phelan and Nails Inc, the dark surroundings were transformed with key looks including mixed prints, heritage, floral and disco day and evening wear leaving plenty of inspiration for the post-show extended shopping hours.

Standout looks for womenswear included bold print dresses by Mary Katrantzou, Diane Von Furstenberg and Marc by Marc Jacobs, stunning maxi offerings from Sass & Bide, Jenny Packham and Catherine Deane, as well as lashings of lace and leather paneling.

As you’d expect for winter, knitwear and outerwear also appeared in various guises, from embellished slogan jumpers by Markus Lupfer, quirky cable JW Anderson sweaters to shearling and cocoon jackets from Carven and Suno. The finale and show stealer however was Alexander McQueen’s pink jacquard dress – don’t expect change from £6,540 for it though.

Brightening up the boys this season were also a range of floral print shirts and tees. This time by the likes of Kenzo, PS by Paul Smith and Just Cavalli. For a more grown-up heritage look, checks, flannels and tweeds were layered by Vivienne Westwood Man and Polo Ralph Lauren, among others.

Winter staples also came courtesy of Polo Ralph Lauren in the form of chunky shawl cardigans, tartan scarves and cord hats. While Lanvin, Paul Smith and Dries Van Noten brought things to a stylish close with lurex and satin tuxedos. What more could you need to prepare you for the party season ahead? Well, apart from an overdraft extension to pay for it all…
