House of Fraser, Westfield

Fashionistas and shopaholics alike flocked to House of Fraser in Westfield London’s shopping complex last week. Why? To grab a bargain, of course! The UK’s premium department store was hosting a two-day event where savvy shoppers could claim up to 25% off brands – including Love Moschino, Vivienne Westwood and DKNY.

As if this wasn’t reason enough to hot-foot it down to the store, there was also a range of other activities to take part in, providing a unique experience. Customers could help themselves to free refreshments whilst browsing the latest styles in womenswear, accessories and beauty. And if you needed a little inspiration in the wardrobe department, those kind folk over at House of Fraser HQ even arranged an exclusive catwalk show.

‘The catwalk will provide you with new ideas on how to work everything but the dress,’ says Charlotte Andreas who, alongside her friend Duran, organised the catwalk event.  ‘It’s so exciting seeing everything coming together.’

The catwalk took place at 4pm and 7pm on each of the two days. Situated on the ground floor, nestled amongst the most covetable handbags, the show was surprisingly accessible. First out on day one was Lee, looking dashing in a checked shirt and skinny jeans. Treating viewers to a cheeky body-popping routine, the dancer’s turn on the catwalk set the scene for a fun, interactive spectacle.

Models were energetic and bright, smiling for the cameras, and showcasing the best the department store has to offer. Hair was youthful, with splashes of colour lending a subtle nod to London Fashion Week favourites, Meadham Kirchoff.

Make-up focused on the eyes, with lids lined with hues of cobalt, lime green and turquoise. ‘We wanted something strong but sophisticated,’ professed Georgios Chatzimagioglou, who was responsible for the model’s fresh look, and used NARS throughout. ‘We connected the eyes with the hair using an elongated masquerade wing.’

Stand-out looks included a feather cape, styled with a luxurious bowling bag, and a faux-fur box bag slung effortlessly over the shoulder. An opulent Biba clutch even drew gasps of excitement from one audience member, who immediately whipped out her iPhone, no doubt to add to her wish list.
