Win a Place at City Academy!

I was heartened to discover that City Academy runs musical theatre courses at all levels.

I’ve always considered it a bit of a shame that once you’ve left school with its obligatory annual show, thereafter, for the rest of your life, you never really get a chance to do any proper singing and dancing unless you’re a professional.  How on earth are normal nine-to-fivers meant to indulge their inner exhibitionists?

Here you can leap about and belt out your favourite show tunes and pull together a showcase so that you can grab your moment in the spotlight and perform for your friends.

And not only does such a thing exist, but good old City Academy is offering you lot a chance to win a free place on any one of their beginner courses.  If musical theatre isn’t your thing, you might want to go with straight dance, drama or singing. 

I popped along to witness the musical theatre class in action, and saw a few routines, including one to All That Jazz.  Then the participants got to take centre stage and do their own solos to a song of their choice.  They were well on their way to perfecting their showcase and apparently loving every minute of it.  The whole thing was a nice mixture of learning and fun, not to sound too corny, and teacher Vikki Stone is remarkably patient and encouraging, so not to worry if you have two left feet.
