Standon Calling This Weekend!
The UK’s ultimate boutique festival, Standon Calling, is set to skyrocket this weekend with a space theme and a bursting line up featuring Friendly Fires, Ladytron, Hawkwind, Freeland, Eddy Temple-Morris, The Rumble Strips and VV Brown.
On Friday London’s premier gypsy jazz night Stranger Than Paradise will be bringing their unhinged star-gazing beats to the festival to host an evening of mayhem with stomping sounds including the rising stars of London’s nu-gypsy scene Chancery Blame and The Gadjo Club. Their party crew will also lead the midnight fancy dress procession on Saturday.
Planet Standon is a family friendly environment with a kids area featuring reggae nursery rhymes, drama workshops, Manga portrait drawings, space face painting, supervised paddling pools, sand pits and story time in the tipi.
You will also find a literary area hosted by Soho’s finest Book Club Boutique, interactive shows created by Heritage Arts Theatre Company, mad scientists, NASA interrogations, Galileo’s Observatory and the best toilets to be found at any festival. All of this will be set to the backdrop of the Standon Lordship; a 16th century manor house with a swimming pool, which last year won them the Most Innovative festival award for their underwater DJ.
With the site set in beautiful countryside yet only 35 minutes out of London, Standon is easily accessible from the capital by train, car or coach. Feast your eyes and pull on your space boots, the Standon Calling stomping ground will be an out of this world, galactic celebration.
