An Evening with Fashion Targets Breast Cancer

‘The drinks are free?’ It is my mother’s first fashion event and she is astounded by the fact we’re sipping on gorgeously girly cocktails free of charge. You might think bringing my mother along to a fabulous fashion event is a bit strange, but this wasn’t your average fashion party. Hosted by the beautiful Deanne Oliver-Evans (aka DJ Blonde Ambition), the evening was a fun-filled affair in aid of the UK’s longest running fashion fundraising campaign: Fashion Targets Breast Cancer.

Held at London’s super-swanky Sanderson hotel, An Evening with Fashion Targets united both men and women in the fight against breast cancer. With my own little survivor (literally: she’s 4′ 11″) by my side, I made my way into a blissful courtyard, decked out with blooming bouquets in hues of lilac, sugared pink and pastel lime. Everywhere you looked, there were groups of perfectly turned-out stylistas laughing and mingling with fellow party-goers. Oliver-Evans herself looked stunning in a Velvet Johnstone maxi dress and floral crown adorning her blonde mane.

Oliver-Evans’ friend, the presenter Antonia O’Brien, was on hand to encourage guests to purchase tickets for the raffle, with prizes including a Mulberry handbag (swoon!), tickets to see Jessie Ware live and an exclusively designed Velvet Johnstone dress.

Guests were also able to purchase pieces from Velvet Johnstone’s collection, with proceeds going towards the Fashion Targets cause. Other retailers setting up shop at the event included East London based online brand The White Pepper and Bohemian Rose Vintage, where I picked up an opulent gold necklace for £25.

With the Mulberry bag safely in the hands of one lucky guest, the night was all set for dancing. I later discovered that O’Brien’s plus-one was her mum – looks like I’m not the only one who brings their biggest fan along to a fashion party.
