Cheesy Marylebone

Tucked away on Marylebone’s quiet Moxon Street, La Fromagerie feels a world away from the nearby, bustling hive of Marylebone High Street.

Popular for its prominence of über trendy gift shops, designer clothing boutiques and chic coffee houses, the High Street draws a vibrant mix of the stylish and exclusive to its vivacious urban hamlet.

Conversely, stepping into the rustic, rural environment of La Fromagerie is like arriving from the farm into the warm, welcoming arms of the farmstead. Everything about the shop feels like you’ve come home, from the fresh, chunky loaves of bread (rosemary, raisin and sea salt for example) to the delicate assortment of sweets: fine hand-made chocolates, candied fruits, truffles and black truffle cream. Jars of jam deck shelves neatly cluttered with vinegar bottles, olive oil canisters, dried pastas, fruits, vegetables, cereals and gourmet foods galore. And that’s even before you step inside the famous Cheese Shop.

Additionally La Fromagerie’s café offers a sophisticated and intimate environment where you can enjoy contemporary European cuisine from the kitchen (terrine of organic salmon; piomontese red peppers) or cheese plates from the shop.

There’s also an extensive events calendar which includes perfume workshops and wine and cheese tastings hosted by Patricia Michelson, author of The Cheese Room.
