London Fashion Week Finale

When I rocked up to the Natural History Museum for the last day of London Fashion Week yesterday I knew I was fully indoctrinated into the fashion massive when I was caught bitching in the queue for Ashish.

Nicole Farhi’s Quintessentially British Tea Party

Taking place in the salubrious setting of the Paul Hamlyn Hall at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, this show was the most auspicious of my London Fashion Week outings thus far. I was off to see the coveted collection of Nicole Farhi. My eyes were peeled for celebs and my chest accessible for autographs.

Caroline Charles’ Fashion Week Colour Parade

Caroline Charles knows how to put on a good show. Opting for a live band instead of a banging soundtrack was a great way to enhance the quality of her collection at London Fashion Week. Though, when the band was announced it wasn’t clear if we were told ‘to clap’ or if the band were [...]

Paul Costelloe Opens London Fashion Week

Sunday morning I arrived bright and early at the Natural History Museum to peruse the opening collection of London Fashion Week spring/summer 2009. It was like a scene from The Wizard of Oz (if the yellow brick road had a tedious queue). There was an abundance of backcombed lion’s manes, a lot of brainless chatter [...]

Beyond Retro Kits Out Soho

The retro clothing market is becoming increasingly cluttered, hence the epidemic of lacklustre stock sweeping London. One time exemplar traders are now attempting to pass off last season’s retro pastiches from the ubiquitous Gap and H&M as original vintage wear; a somewhat radical interpretation of original stockists.
Enter stage West: Beyond Retro has long been supplying [...]

London Fashion Week Royal Panties

You’ve gotta hand it to Betty Jackson. She’s got chutzpah for sticking King Henry VIII’s mug on the crotch of her catwalk model’s hotpants. This act of impudence pretty much sums up the attitude reflected in the veteran Fashion Weeker’s show on Tuesday: flamboyant, colourful, unconventional, fun.

Modernist Kicks Fashion Week’s Ass

London Fashion Week is back. And before we mere mortals have even contemplated pedicuring our indecent claws and exposing those pasty hobbit feet to the world in time for the forthcoming spring/summer ’08, the powers that be in Fashion Land are prancing about in wool knits for autumn/winter ‘08/’09.
Oh it’s hard keeping up with the [...]

Prince Pops Up at London Fashion Week

The Purple One stole the show at Matthew Williamson’s hotly anticipated style parade at London Fashion Week on Wednesday. The pint-sized pop star Prince, donning a black suit and top hat, slipped into the fashion venue virtually incognito, and sat meekly near the start of the stage. He launched into his performance from the front [...]

A Stella Performance from McCartney at LFW

Stella McCartney wrapped up London Fashion Week last night with her spring/summer sportswear collection for Adidas, and shunned the traditional catwalk. She chose instead to convert a cavernous west London fitness centre into an astro-turfed miniature golf course to flaunt her flirty fitness compilation to the fashion elite.

Eco-warriors Create an Ethical Stir at Fashion Week

Green is the colour of the season at London Fashion Week (of the eco variety, not the envy kind). As the au courant crowd jostled into the entrance of LFW’s Design Exhibition for its final day on Wednesday, “eco-fashion” was the word on everyone’s lips. Yes, the sunglass-clad über-tanned clan really do care about more [...]
