Peter Stevenson

Peter Stevenson has written 41 posts for The London Word
Peter moved to London in the spring of 2010, gravitating downwards from 'the North' over a number of years. With a background in science, he enjoyed dabbling in scientific writing to the point where he realised the writing part was actually what he liked the most, and promptly took it up full time. Even in his limited time in the Big Smoke, he has already found nothing is quite like London if you want to vent some creative waves, become a volunteer radio presenter or, let's say, join a semi-unsuccessful Ska-Punk band. Turns out this Northerner feels really quite at home now.

Aperitivo at Il Tempo, Covent Garden

The typical premise of aperitivo, for those who are unaware, is very simple: buy a drink and thou shalt eat for free

The Camden Eye

A solid boozer with a relaxed atmosphere, a good quality selection of pizzas and wine, within close proximity to the station

Ed’s Easy Diner, Soho

There are countless establishments that offer better food, such as The Diner, many gastropubs and even, frankly, McDonald’s

Opium, Chinatown

The third floor is to be revelled in, like nearly all of the cocktails, but impressing people here does come at a price

Cocktails at Anise, Devonshire Square

Cinnamon Kitchen’s adjoining bar, Anise, is firing on all cylinders to pull in the Liverpool Street punters for a spicy cocktail

Dining Out for Christmas Lunch

We’ve cobbled together a few options for anyone looking for a last minute escape. There should be something for everyone

Bitter Sweet Cocktails, Soho

My best description of the interior would be as if Katy Perry was handed a B&Q charge card and told to ‘go nuts’

The North Pole, Islington

Whether you’re there for some solid grub or the independent beers and ciders… it won’t be long before you’re back

Inamo, St James

Inamo places a computerised table in front of its guests which cares for your every need. Want to order a dish? Just click

The Cube, Royal Festival Hall

The view lets you drink in as much of London as you do the excellent range of wines paired with each course
