Kasia Dorocinska

Kasia Dorocinska has written 6 posts for The London Word
Kasia, 28, is not native to London but has had enough time to find her way about, moving like a nomad from one place to another. Bit by bit, kindly unfolding themselves to her are the undercurrents of this giant, leading her deeper and deeper into the winding streets, into the music and quirky people. She gets inspired by what she sees and hears and she then scribbles it down on whatever piece of paper she can get her hands on. Her energy lasts long enough to produce short forms like articles and art reviews, and sometimes trickles down with tiny forms like songs and poetry. Kasia has always been tuned into her cultural surroundings, flirting with the written word to capture the 'here and now' of a particular place she happens to inhabit. She holds an MA in Cultural Studies and Languages and enjoys living theory in practice.

LFW: Is Creativity in Crisis?

Being adaptable is necessary for survival and this trend is clearly reflected in the fashion world. How Ethical is London Fashion Week?

The British Fashion Council  is supportive of the young home grown and international fashion entrepreneurs who implement ethical solutions into their daily [...]

Paul Costelloe Opens Understated Fashion Week

London Fashion Week is celebrating its 25th anniversary this season, but despite this fact the week started in a less lavish style than usually expected, due of course, to the credit crunch. Following in New York Fashion Week’s footsteps, LFW is more understated than usual, with some designers, such as Grochvogel, showing in private 30 minute presentations rather than [...]

Is the Credit Crisis Changing Art?

In 2009 major changes are taking place not only in the world of politics and finance but also in the world of art. The commercial art market is shaking in the grips of crisis, with major auction houses drastically losing their revenues, borrowing millions to satisfy unhappy vendors, stuck with masterpieces that fail to sell. Meanwhile, [...]

Camden Arts Centre Goes Solo

For some reason the Camden Arts Centre runs two solo shows of two very different artists and CAC’s declaration that they ‘share an intensity which is both personal and profound’ seems quite farfetched to me.

Of the Flesh: the Art of Andrew Krasnow

In the light of recent political turbulences in the US, GV Art’s director Robert Devčić has decided to curate an exhibition of a politically engaged Andrew Krasnow. This American artist of Jewish background has been voicing political criticism for over two decades and his work has been, and indeed still is, very controversial.
