A born and bred southerner, James is a journalist who writes on cinema (mainly) but also the arts for a variety of publications, including The Independent, Marie Claire and Total Film. He’s published four books – most recently The Sundance Kids (Faber & Faber) – and has interviewed all manner of deserving celebrities. Favourite encounters: Elliott Gould, Johnny Greenwood and Francis Ford Coppola….but that may change tomorrow. He lives in north London, and has lived in the city since 1994, when he graduated from Liverpool University. He couldn’t, frankly, think of living anywhere else – which either says something about a lack of imagination on his part or just a sheer love for the place. When he’s not sitting in a darkened room watching films, he spends too much time obsessing over football, playing video games and going to gigs. Probably should get more fresh air.
