Bag a Winter Coat This Sale Season

One thing every girl needs living in London is a good winter coat. And just because Christmas is over it doesn’t mean we’re off the hook. We’ve got January still to come – perhaps the frostiest (and most depressing) month. So, what better remedy to the cold and the blues than a brand spanking new coat? With the sales in full force, if you haven’t got your winter coat already, now is the time to get-a-buying.

The coat trends this season have been a little different to previous but a lot more fun. The colour palette is lighter and brighter (think pink, cream and frosty blue) and there is so much more texture (be it leather, mohair, faux fur or fluffy). Not to mention an array of hem lengths from ankle skimming to knee to cropped.

So what and where should we be looking out for this sale season where coats are concerned?

To make sure you’re on trend this season why not try a new shape: the oversized boyfriend coat. This shape exudes style and is great to wear dressed up or down. If you want to go the extra mile you could even go for a longer length or the AW13 colour; pastel pink. Topshop does a pink fluffy swing coat that ticks all the right boxes in shape and colour as well as a darker mohair option to keep you cosy. Or for something a little sharper try this red Cos number with skinny collar and ankle skimming sleeves.

The key to styling a boyfriend coat is to keep it loose and pair with tighter garments like skinny jeans, tights and ankle boots. If you’re blessed with height try a long silhouette like this & Other Stories block colour number which is currently something of a bargain in the sale!

If you’re still in your Christmas onesie then you might want to avoid the high street and shop online. This contrast tweed coat is half price on ASOS along with a whole host of other styles to choose from.

Now all you have to do is make a decision – shop online or brave the in-store sales? Good luck!
