Beyoncé Dance Series

As usually the first and last on the dance floor I don’t take much persuading to bust a move or three. In fact, I can often be found doing a wobbly rendition of Thriller come 1am most weekends. With this in mind, imagine my delight at finding a dance class that could add some much-needed polish to my attempts at the routines of my favourite pop stars.

Set up by professional dancer Bonnie Parsons, Seen On Screen Fitness offers just that – the chance for dance lovers, like myself, to follow the routines of the professionals for an hour-and-a-half. With the help of Bonnie’s expert team – who are music industry veterans and have danced for the likes of Cheryl Cole, Rihanna, Lady Gaga and JLS – participants are encouraged to move like the stars in a series of celeb-inspired workshops, with often hilarious results.

With delusions of grandeur I signed up for the ultimate routine from the studio’s Beyoncé dance series – Single Ladies. Ever since Kanye West declared it as one of the best videos of all time, at Taylor Swift’s expense, I have been fascinated by its complicated choreography.

Fortunately, Bonnie and her colleague Elliot were on hand to break it down into manageable chunks, so at the end of our 90-minute class at Notting Hill Harbour Club (one of two locations where classes take place) everyone could feel a little like Queen Bey herself.

With the class as much about having fun and feeling confident as it is about learning the steps, it is the perfect way to exercise with friends or strangers alike. I also couldn’t think of a better birthday or hen party treat. Prepare to sweat though – this is a cardio workout with some sit-ups thrown in for good measure. You’ll also need to add lashings of caramel (as Elliot calls it) as you strut your stuff with confidence around the studio.

It’s fun, fabulous and a great way to stay fit – what more could you ask for? What about a Lady Gaga or Rhianna dance series? Bonnie is well ahead of you, with new dates being launched every day.
