FrenchEye Woman

Established menswear designer FrenchEye has chosen this summer for the launch of its first women’s collection, which is currently debuting at Westfield Stratford City and soon to be available online.

FrenchEye Woman is designed for female professionals looking for the perfect boardroom-to-bar ensemble. The collection consists of smart tailoring in neutral tones, sleek body-con dresses in candy colours and classic two-piece suits in wool, satin or velvet. Jackets are available single- or double-breasted in a variety of lengths and there is a large range of coloured shirts in cotton and silk. Completing the debut collection are shoes – handmade in leather, suede, patent or satin – such as golden patent slingbacks and nude-toned platform court shoes.

Pricing is very reasonable too: a coral-coloured fitted crepe dress costs £139; a white satin jacket comes in at £110 and blue velvet trousers are priced at £79. The emphasis is on taking the modern working woman from desk to dinner and creating an affordable wardrobe for her that is both professional and feminine, with perfect fitting and luxury fabrics. For hectic lifestyles, where a career and a social life are equally important, clothes that multitask are essential.

Key pieces for this season from the women’s collection include body-defining flannel dresses in rich burgundy hues (purple tones are the shades of choice for autumn 2012) and the scarlet velvet trouser suit for a luxury office statement that rolls perfectly into the evening.

Although the FrenchEye brand is inspired by European style, mix-and-match suiting and a variety of colours and fabrics allow women to add their own slant to professional workwear, in fitting with London’s style psyche. The menswear range allows a similar selection, from classic tailored suits to this season’s velvet check jacket for those with a more adventurous sense of style. Although its headquarters are in north-west London, it is easy to see why FrenchEye is drawn by the rapid acceleration of East London’s fashionable status and has launched the first FrenchEye Woman collection in Westfield Stratford City, where London City chic no longer feels out of place.
