As one of (RED)’s original partners, Converse has been using their singular creativity to help eliminate AIDS in Africa since 2006.
This February 14 the über cool casual shoe retailer is launching the I LOVE…Chuck Taylor All Star shoe for its special Valentine’s Day collection, where every purchase sends a contribution of 5-15% directly to The Global Fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.
The Product (RED) campaign, made famous by U2 frontman Bono’s initiative to expand opportunities for the people in Africa and to promote HIV/AIDS awareness, has already included the American Express (RED) card and special edition iPod Nano and iPod Shuffles with a Product (RED) theme.
The Global Fund, since 2002, has become the main source of finance for programs to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. With approved funding of US$18.7 billion for more than 572 programs in 140 countries it ‘provides a quarter of all international financing for AIDS globally, two-thirds for tuberculosis and three quarters for malaria’.
The trendy Chuck Taylor All Star comes as a high top boot or low cut trainer with patchwork leather/canvas uppers in timeless black and white, and red love hearts replacing the famous Converse star logo.
