The question is this: do we wish to live in a sanitised city free of "pests" and "vermin" where we are free to throw out any old rubbish regardless and not pay due regard to nature or do we wish to live in a living city where things are little less convenient and people need to think but where we can enjoy nature at close range and share our lives with other creatures?

Personally I'd prefer the latter. Nothing thrills me more than when I wander home through Greenwich late and night and I see some foxes run across the road. It reminds me that life is a wonderful thing. Your sanitised city would be poorer for a lack of foxes. Sure it means I need to spend a few minutes thinking before I chuck out some enticing food or remember to close my door but that's a small price to pay to ensure another living creatures lives.

With all due respect, foxes should be left alone. Mankind has always had a problem sharing 'his' land with other predators. In the more rural areas in the past the wolf, lynx, beaver and boar were all wiped out, but in the future we'll hopefully see some of these animals around again, boar are certainly thriving. The problem is, mankind is the vermin and it's us who are wiping out the habitat of these creatures so isn't it only natural they'll have to venture into towns ? We need all these animals, without them mankind is heading for extinction.
